Skate Plateau
After many years of cooperation with Hamburg's politicians, many meetings, talks, and workshops, we have developed the idea of using the unused rooftop of the Train station "Landungsbrücken" to build a skate spot that would meet every body's demands. The designing team around Richie Löffler gathered to give the spot a shape that would reflect on Hamburg's diverse architecture.
The site will be poured with coloured concrete, as well as the most of the walls, radiuses and drive-ways. The coloured concrete will be complemented with red bricks. Flower buckets and grass hills, which are going to surround part of the area, will bring a fresh green scenery while making the way recognizable by pedestrians. The surrounding hill offers the opportunity of creating a terrace, which would be accessed by an excessive staircase.
The centre will feature a fountain, which due to its flowing radiuses and curves allows different types of usage. On the hillside next to the staircase along the wall, we'll develop a street like scenery with loading ramps and stairs. To get the impression of street life, the wall will be graced by a mural which will be painted by selected artists.
The open atmosphere of the area will lure many curious and enthused people, which makes it necessary to build a building that would feature a sanitary, first-aid corner, gastronomy, as well as skateboard equipment rental. The club in charge of overseeing the project, as well as maintaining the area, will face all of these assignments.
